This week sister Lloyd and I were semi homeless and all the way tired. At one point we just packed our bags and got in our car not sure how long we would be gone from our area. I slept on a 4ft couch. For those of you who don't know, I'm 5'5. It felt like we were back in college. It was a week of ministering for sure. I loved President Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk, "The Greatest among You" from the Priesthood session of conference last week. Sometimes in the church we strive for calling of authority to give us worldly recognition and praise. President Uchtdorf did a wonderful job of explaining that callings are only opportunities to serve and that each is of equal value. These are some of my favorite quotes from his talk. "In the eyes of God, there is no calling in the kingdom that is more important than another. Our service--whether great or small--refines our spirits, opens the windows of heaven, and releases God’s blessings not only upon those we serve but upon us as well. When we reach out to others, we can know with humble confidence that God acknowledges our service with approval and approbation. He smiles upon us as we offer these heartfelt acts of compassion, especially acts that are unseen and unnoticed by others. Each time we give of ourselves to others, we take a step closer to becoming good and true disciples of the One who gave His all for us: our Savior... What is the most important calling in the Church? It is the one you currently have. No matter how humble or prominent it may seem to be, the calling you have right now is the one that will allow you not only to lift others but also to become the man of God you were created to be. My dear friends and brethren in the priesthood, lift where you stand!" I'm thankful for the call to be a missionary. "Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved." -President Thomas S. Monson
Now some sleep and food deprived thoughts of the week:
Me "Remember that one time Alma the younger and the sons of Mosiah served a mission for like 20 years?"
Sis Lloyd "Yeah, but I bet they got to take naps".
Sis Lloyd "Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things".
Me "Be my friend"
Sis Lloyd "I will..... I AM"
Much love y'all,
Sister Guthrie
P.S. HAPPY HONEYMOON MILLS & GREG AND AJ & RUSSEL 😉 (s/o to friends who get married while you're gone)
This is Mom/Jeannie. I just realized her group letter did not explain the arm! She had a suspicious mole on her arm that was growing and changing color. Her doc decided to just remove the whole thing, and we are waiting for the biopsy results. 💙
